Did this ever happen to you?... “I can speak English to a certain degree but I really want to speak English with better pronunciation”, “I want to look at the tongue while speaking English”, “I want to study phonetics”.

This app is for studying English pronunciation and speech articulation. VisualLearning uses ultrasound, MRI and video data to help you understand articulation.

This app has 3 main features:

1st - you can accurately look at tongue movement while a person speaks English in real time, because VisualLearning uses ultrasound data.

2nd - this app uses one story, not just words and phonemes. The story has a wide range of phonetic environments and naturally occurring minimal pairs.

3rd - you can record at the same time as you see and hear the pronunciation. By means of this, you can smoothly repeat input (studying English pronunciation) and output (practicing utterances by recording). Also, shadowing is effective in practicing utterances.

This app has been developed based on some scientific research papers (see the app for references).

“I want to speak English using the correct pronunciation”, “I want to look at the tongue while speaking English”, “I want to study phonetics”. If thats you, then please use VisualLearning!

*Note that if you want to use the recording feature of this app, then you must allow the app to access your camera and mic.
